This program prepares a graduate to work as an entry-level Medical Assistant. Within this general career category are a number of specialty areas, including Administrative Office Assistant, Clinic Assistant, Medical Office Manager, Phlebotomist, Physical Therapy Technician in a doctor's office, clinic or hospital. Graduates will be able to check vital signs, assist in physical examinations, electrocardiograms, and perform basic laboratory tests. During the classroom portion of training students will be introduced to a variety of subjects ranging from microcomputers and front office skills, to anatomy, physiology and the various systems of the human body. Students will receive hands-on laboratory training from the very first week of training. Externship sites are typically doctor's offices, clinics, hospitals, laboratories, physical therapy sites, pharmacies, optometry facilities, dialysis centers, etc. MORE
This program prepares a graduate
to work as an entry-level Mental Health Technician, Psychiatric
Assistant or Psychiatric Attendant in a mental health care facility.
Graduates are employed in mental health hospitals, drug & alcohol
rehabilitation centers, half-way houses, schools for the mentally
retarded, social rehabilitation centers and private counseling
centers. Graduates are able to assist in treatment and
rehabilitation of mentally ill, mentally retarded and
substance-abuse patients. Students are also prepared in Clinical
Facility Management and Basic Clinical Procedures.
MEDICAL OFFICE ASSISTANT PROGRAM The Medical Office Assistant Program at
PCI Health Training Center prepares a graduate to work as an
entry-level medical front office assistant, receptionist, biller
/collector, appointment scheduler or medical records clerk in
healthcare centers, clinics, hospitals, ambulatory care centers, and
medical billing offices. Students will learn basic medical office
procedures, create and manage medical charts and records, office
accounting and bookkeeping and processing insurance authorizations,
claims and billing.

ACADEMIC INFORMATION: In each program, a student will attend seven 100 hour classroom units and 200 hours of externship, performed off-campus, for a total of 900 Clock Hours of training. Each week of class is a combination of classroom lecture, and practical laboratory training. The classroom portion of training takes approximately seven months to complete for a normally progressing student. Students are graded weekly, and a written Progress Report is issued at the end of each 100-hour classroom unit of training. Upon the conclusion of the classroom portion of training, the student gets the opportunity to use their accumulated knowledge and practical skills by performing the final stage of their training - Externship - in a live setting. This off-campus training will be supervised by the personnel at the externship site and the student’s performance will be evaluated on a weekly basis until the completion of 200 hours. Upon successful completion of this final stage of training, the student is awarded a Diploma.
